History of the Fair

The first Arizona State Fair, in 1884, was held long before Arizona became a state in 1912. Events included horse, pony, and mule races; exhibits included agriculture, home economics, dairy and beef cattle. Today, competition is held in culinary arts, fine arts, home arts (sewing, crafts, mineral & jewelry), horticulture, photography, student art, and youth development. There is also an all–Indian rodeo!

Attendance in 2013 was about 1.2 million visits.

Sorry, no pets allowed on the fairgrounds.
